And....we're off!

After years of planning, months of worry, weeks of shopping, days of packing, and a short [rather tearful] goodbye with Mom, I am on my way to Prague. 

Well, sort of. 

I am sitting in the airport in Charlotte awaiting my flight to Philly. Having cried my way through security, I am slowly getting a hold on myself. I have never been away from home for an extended period of time and while I know that I will have an amazing trip, I can't get over how far away May 16th is. Bahhh!

I am going to Madrid to stay with Jeannie and her family. I haven't seen Roby or Ana for at least ten years, so I am excited to see them. I love Spain [I went in high school] and look forward to revisiting some of my favorite museums and finding new sites so visit.

ps: this is the first time in 5 years since I have not had a cell phone within reach. I feel naked.

Happy New Year!

I will be in Europe in less than three weeks. 

Blerg. I am now in full panic mode. I don't speak the language, know anything about the country, or know anyone else on the trip. Plus I have yet to begin packing. Plus I despise flying.

Don't get me wrong. I am so excited about going. But there is just so much to do. Tannee and I are going to have a pre-departure talk concerning my concerns and I think that this will calm my nerves. 

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer today. Cheerfulness will ensue in later posts.
